Search over for missing NY toddler; her whereabouts unclear

Syracuse police have issued an Amber alert for a 1-year-old girl who they say has been taken by her father.

The tot and her father went missing Saturday night, while her mother was at work. Ryan Lawrence, who is the father of Maddox, had been in police custody since Monday afternoon and began to cooperate with police Tuesday morning.

This is a very dark day for Syracuse.

The Amber Alert has not been cancelled and police are still hoping for leads to help them find the child.

Ryan Lawrence is a white male approximately 24 years old with brown hair and brown eyes.

Lawrence was found walking a short time later.

Their last known location was thought to be a parking lot at Destiny USA.

An Amber Alert was issued for Maddox Sunday morning.

The suspect left home with the child last night after leaving information indicating that he was going to harm himself and possibly the child. State police divers found her body underwater along the Creekwalk, a biking and hiking pathway.

Ryan Lawrence is being held in the Onondaga County Justice Center without bail. “We just want to know that the both of you are safe”, Morgan said.

After interviewing Lawrence, police focused their search for Maddox on Syracuse’s Inner Harbor, an inlet off the end of Onondaga Lake.
