Seattle loses safety Earl Thomas for rest of the season

Even with the game well in hand a few weeks again against the Eagles, Philadelphia almost covered the spread late with a touchdown against the Seahawks in the fourth quarter. In fact, he did not throw for more than 200 yards in any of the three regular-season games he played against Seattle, all of which were in Carolina.

“There are some guys out there that need to step it up and unfortunately they didn’t”, Carolina coach Ron Rivera said.

According to Lindsay Jones of USA Today, the Panthers told the media the move was not injury related and that it was simply the decision of Rivera.

“He ran into Kam [Chancellor], and Kam’s made of steel, so that’s going to hurt, and it sure did”. Thomas had recorded 48 tackles, 10 passes defended, and two interceptions this season.

Carroll did not have a time frame on the injury and wasn’t sure if Thomas would need surgery to fix his broken bone.

Members of the Seahawks’ medical training staff carried Thomas off the field so he wouldn’t have to put weight on his left leg.
