Second Presidential Debate Shrouded in Controversy Before Candidates Even Arrive

The list of Republicans calling on Trump to step aside is growing, but the number is still tiny compared to the GOP leaders who prefer to condemn Trump’s words while maintaining their support.

However, prominent United States political analyst Nate Silver has noted that Trump’s low popularity could actually insulate him from the effects of these revelations, the suggestion being that those left in the Trump camp are particularly committed to him and won’t be easily dissuaded.

On a day in which Trump was due to debate Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton and with a month to go to the November 8 election, Trump took to social media to try to squelch any speculation that he could leave the race.

House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy said “there is absolutely no place” for Trump’s language in American society and that he “must” make a “full and unqualified apology”.

In the 2005 video, obtained by The Washington Post and NBC News, Trump, who was married to his current wife at the time, is heard describing attempts to have sex with a married woman.

“My name is Arianne (R-E-on) ZUCKER (Zooker) and I am a strong, independent, hard working mother, business woman and partner to a great man”, she wrote.

He said: ‘Anyone who knows me knows these words don’t reflect who I am.

A throng of Trump supporters came out to Trump Towers on Saturday and the NY billionaire made a brief appearance waving to the crowd. Sources told CNN the first questions would be about the uproar.

Although Mr. Trump has apologised, he has not yet addressed serious concerns raised by the hot mic video.

Trump on Sunday tweeted: “So many self-righteous hypocrites”.

During a visit to a soap opera set a decade ago, Trump’s crude sexual banter with then-“Access Hollywood” anchor Billy Bush was caught on video. In 1994, former Arkansas state worker Paula Jones filed a sexual harassment lawsuit against him for allegedly exposing himself to her in a Little Rock hotel room.

“Trump’s extraordinary campaign has been guided by his own instincts, and on Friday, his instinct was to hunker down and fight”. That’s the most over-used phrase in all discussions of intra-party politics.

An early coin toss by the Commission on Presidential Debates had determined that Clinton would be the first one to answer questions.

Allegations that the former president has always denied.

He later tweeted he would not yield the GOP nomination under any circumstances: “The media and establishment want me out of the race so badly – I WILL NEVER DROP OUT OF THE RACE, WILL NEVER LET MY SUPPORTERS DOWN!” This poll makes pretty clear – as the booing and heckling did anecdotally – that they’re with Trump. The simultaneous leaks of Donald Trump’s lewd remarks and the publishing of excerpts from Hillary Clinton’s Goldman Sachs speeches are only the beginning.

Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Donna Brazille said Hillary Clinton had suffered because of her husband’s infidelities and noted that Bill Clinton, who was impeached, has been held accountable.

“Bill Clinton has actually abused women, and Hillary has bullied, attacked and shamed his victims”.

In a statement released by the show Saturday, O’Dell said no one should be the subject of such crass comments and that everyone deserves respect, whether or not cameras are rolling.

Kelly Ayotte: “I wanted to be able to support my party’s nominee, chosen by the people, because I feel strongly that we need a change in the direction for our country”.

Trump made these recent comments after the Clinton campaign brought Venezuelan-born Alicia Machado, a former Miss Universe, into the spotlight to highlight derogatory remarks Trump made toward her.

McCain says there are no excuses for the GOP presidential nominee’s offensive and demeaning remarks about women.

Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta, interviewed on “Fox News Sunday”, called the Trump remarks captured on video “disgusting”, adding, “This is who this guy is”.

Clinton has to decide how best to capitalize on the latest revelations about Trump without overdoing it.

Clinton has her own issues to face.

Those excerpts could validate what some of Ms. Clinton’s critics have said all along: that the Democratic nominee is out of touch with the middle class. He has believed since before the race began that the way to win was to get as much free media as possible, and just get people talking about him.
