Senate Republicans take step toward repealing Obamacare

Fox News Channel’s Garrett Tenney reported Wednesday night that Trump’s declaration further raises the question of how Republicans will execute their plan, and what the new health care law may look like.

Obamacare sign-ups for 2017 coverage rose about 2.3 percent from the same time a year ago, as efforts to repeal President Barack Obama’s health care reform begin in Congress.

The 20 million or so people who obtained health insurance under Obamacare could be at risk as early as 2018.

Yet Senate minority leader, Democrat Chuck Schumer, warned Mr Trump that the opposition party will be watching him and holding him to account for his pledge to “make America great again”.

There are some Republicans who think that it’s possible to use the reconciliation rules to repeal all of Obamacare with a simple majority vote.

“As we repeal Obamacare, we would be wise to vote on its replacement at the same time“, Sen.

“That ultimately is nothing more than just bait and switch”, said White House spokesman Josh Earnest.

Senate Democrats, including Joe Manchin, are concerned that if the law is repealed without a replacement lined up to take its place, hundreds of thousands of people could lose their health insurance. Repealing the program may also be bad news if you are under the age of 26 and still on your parents’ health care.

He said there would be some executive action by Donald Trump related to Obamacare on his first day in office, along with legislative action in Congress in the weeks after.
