Serena Williams announces her engagement to Reddit co-founder … on Reddit

The 35-year-old tennis pro said “yes” to Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian, 33, and naturally, broke the news on his information sharing website.

This year was a good one for Williams, 35, who made nearly $29 million, placing her 40th on the list of world’s highest-paid athletes, up from 47th in 2015.

Ohanian later re-posted the announcement on Facebook. “Back to where our stars first collided“, wrote Williams on her newly verified account. Fitting since this is the city where they both met in in the fall of past year, shortly after Ms. Williams’ breakup with Drake.

The WTA Tour, which Williams has dominated for much of her career, posted a photo of the happy couple on Twitter with a message of congratulations. Currently, Williams is preparing to compete in the Australia Open in January.

The engagement comes as a surprise as the pair have kept their relationship private since they started dating just over a year ago.

Now that she is engaged, the soon-to-be Mrs. Alexis Ohanian will be spending her time preparing for her big day.
