Side By Side Comparison Of Glenn’s Death In The Walking Dead Comics

However, the producers of “The Walking Dead” said that the death of Glenn and Abraham were just the start of a possible gorier and merciless season.

Glenn Rhee, played by Steven Yeun, was killed, as was Abraham Ford, played by Michael Cudlitz, in a shock double-murder.

The Season 7 premiere saw two characters get mercifully beaten to death by new bad guy Negan – a significant villain from Robert Kirkman‘s comic book series.

Around 17 million viewers tuned in to watch Negan and Lucille deliver deadly beatings to (spoiler alert!) Glenn and Abraham.

Even as The Walking Dead apparently locked down Negan’s victim two years ago, production still went through with its shell game of filming death scenes for each cast member. Sadly, the person that was closest to Negan when all this happened was none other than Glenn. Here’s what actor Steven Yeun had to say about the whole thing in an interview with AMC.

“So I think it’s a knee-jerk reaction that people have, because they care about these characters”. And that’s the unusual story of how Kirkman enjoying Yeun so much resulted in Glenn’s recent death.

In response to fans saying they would quit, Nicotero added, “I would say that that means we have done something to affect these people in a way that they don’t necessarily know how to process”.

Fans of The Walking Dead aren’t the only ones who think the hit AMC drama went too far with the violence in Sunday’s season premiere and crossed a line in terms of what is acceptable to show on basic cable. “I suppose Daryl is the type of person that would shoulder that type of blame”. Not to this scale, but I told him that you’ll feel good some days and then it’s going to creep back up on you and you’ll feel like crap. That doesn’t seem right to me.

Finally, Yeun also addressed Glenn’s last line. “I’ll find you Maggie” he told his pregnant wife before the notorious Savior leader bludgeoned him to death.

Brutal But Walking Dead villain Jeffrey Dean Morgan said he wanted to quit while filming the show's intense season opener
