Six alternative Facebook reaction buttons you’ll wish Mark Zuckerberg had made

February 26 20:03 2016

“Love”, “haha”, “wow”, “sad”, and “angry” now cozy up next to the familiar “like” thumbs up.

Many, many Facebook users have clamored for a dislike button for years. Here, Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Facebook thought of these “Reactions” to be an extension of “like” option after getting people’s enquiry about the “Dislike” button on Facebook. These are some of the questions that may have come in your mind when you first hovered over the “Like” button in the search for the new reactions emojis.

But, really, the “racist opinions” reaction is necessary.

It’s not coming to Facebook.

Here are five alternative buttons we think would be a truer representation of how one feels after frittering away 20 minutes on the average Facebook newsfeed scroll.

To determine which emotional responses they would implement, Facebook examined the one-worded comments that people left on their friends’ content. They then narrowed that initial list down by testing the reactions in several test countries, like Ireland and Spain, and taking feedback and usage to determine the final list, which rolled out overnight for USA users. Facebook is constantly trying to figure out what will keep you glued to your News Feed longer. Not every moment you want to share is happy. If someone feels happy he/she can use happy emoji “Reaction”.

Introducing ReactionsToday is our worldwide launch of Reactions – the new Like button with more ways to express yourself. That’s why Sammi Krug, Facebook product manager has said that through these emoji “Reactions” one may express their sympathy or any negative feeling more accurately.

Wired has already done an excellent article on how advertisers are loving the new Facebook reactions. As “Like” buttons are universally acknowledged in the same way “Reactions ” are also made suitable for various cultures.
