Sixers fall to Heat at home, series even at 1-1

April 17 12:04 2018

Dwyane Wade turned back the clock and the Miami Heat turned the series around Monday in Philadelphia. Late in the game with the Sixers mounting a scary-ass comeback that had all of Heat Twitter running to the medicine cabinet for anxiety relief, Wade put the final nail in the coffin and sent the Heat back to Miami with home court advantage.

In a flash, Wade stripped a ball and scored on a dunk, found a wide open James Johnson for another slam and fed Goran Dragic for an open jumpshot. McConnell subbed in and Fultz did not play in the second half. Whether Kevin Hart will be court side again at the American Airlines Arena for Game 3 on Thursday night remains to be seen. Philadelphia lost Monday for the first time in Embiid’s 10-game absence.

The Warriors – still missing the injured talisman Stephen Curry – outclassed a physical San Antonio from three-point range in a devastating display of scoring.

Dwyane Wade put in a vintage performance to help the Miami Heat peg the series back to 1-1.

Redick, who struggled from the 3-point line all night, appeared to look at Dragic in anger.

Sixers G/F Ben Simmons led the team with 24 points while F Dario Saric added 23 points.

Popovich said before the game that Golden State in Game 1 played “the most stifling defense we faced all year long”. His fourth foul then came early in the third quarter on an illegal screen.

Brett Brown went into the night discounting the revelry from his team’s 23-point rout in Saturday’s opener of this best-of-seven opening-round National Basketball Association playoff series. Miami promptly went on an 8-0 run and held on to win game two of this series.

Miami was aggressive defensively and it showed on the Sixers shooing only 42 percent for the game and an anemic 20 percent from three.

The Philadelphia crowd was a major issue for Miami early on. But things changed quickly in the second quarter.

Durant finished with 32 points, six rebounds and six assists while Thompson had 31 points with five assists.

The Sixers sorely needed Embiid, their All-Star center out with a broken orbital bone, to settle them as they fell into a quick a 16-point hole.

All the while, Wade couldn’t miss.

The strategy rattled the 76ers, particularly in the second quarter when they scored just 13 points to the Heat’s 34.
