Skywriters Scold ‘Disgusting’ Donald Trump Over Rose Parade

As the floats at the 127th parade were making their way down the route, several planes began dotting the sky with messages including “America is great!”

A millionaire real estate developer from Tuscaloosa is the man behind the Donald Trump-bashing skywriting messages that appeared over the Rose Parade on New Year’s Day.

Despite the prospect of overnight temperatures as low as the mid-30s, enthusiastic fans began planting seats, blankets and even air mattresses to camp out along the 5 1/2-mile route Thursday, with many gathering around heaters and barbecues after nightfall.

The Grand Marshal for the 2016 Rose Parade will be award-winning filmmaker Ken Burns.

“Recent events at home and overseas have put added attention on the safety efforts at the annual Rose Parade and Rose Bowl game”, said Pasadena Assistant City Manager Steve Mermell.

In earlier parades, arrests were substantially higher.

Authorities said the event was held under unprecedented security, although there were no known threats.

Among the 44 floats are works in homage to the City of Hope, whose float was built by and will feature athlete cancer survivors.

A losing record didn’t stop the Los Angeles Lakers from entering a float titled “Every Second is an Adventure”, ridden by team legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Paula Abdul, a former member of the Laker Girls dance squad.

Authorities warned Rose Bowl spectators of a long list of items that would not be allowed inside the stadium, including banners, large beverage containers and drones.

Danny Chan, a pastor with the Eagle Rock Seventh-day Adventist Church, said he expected upward of 150 people, mostly families with children and teens, to attend from his congregation.
