Sony’s Marvel Universe unveils the symbiote, Tom Hardy in new ‘Venom’ trailer

April 24 23:32 2018

In addition, Sony is also set to release a new animated Spider-Man movie titled Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse on December 14, 2018. Venom was listed as #33 on Empire Magazine’s 50 Greatest Comic Book Characters. Tom Hardy stars as the titular anti-hero.

Now, though, we have our first proper look at Hardy, symbiote and all, in the new trailer below.

The first official trailer for Venom has been released and it looks like an all-out riot. Sadly, one day he gets infected by a murderous, psychopathic alien symbiote who turns his arms into stretchy, pointy tendrils, making his hugs extremely deadly. The trailer concludes with Brock’s internal fight against the alien force, which results in his body being completely taken over by the substance, thus totally becoming Venom. For the last couple of months, we’ve been hearing how Sony is keeping it all separated, and Spider-Man is in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but every other character that’s in the Spider-Man universe is separate.

Ruben Fleischer directed Venom from a script written by Scott Rosenberg and Jeff Pinker.

Do you think this movie will finally get Venom right? In Amazing Spider-Man 2, there was a mention of the character of Eddie Brock. Angered by this betrayal, the symbiote sought out Eddie Brock, who at the time had a grudge against Parker.

The trailer also features co-stars Michelle Williams, who plays Eddie’s girlfriend Ann Weyingand, and Jenny Slate as Dora Skirth, a scientist working for the Life Foundation.

I’ll be honest, Venom doesn’t look bad, but it does look…weird. Reporter Eddie Brock (Hardy), starting in human form, transforms into the infamous villain, revealing his very nasty alter ego.
