On Tuesday, in the latest sparring match with the Trump administration, White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer took a jab at her as she asked about any collusion between the president and Russian Federation.
The press conference in question was Spicer’s first official day on the job, one day after President Trump’s swearing-in, in which the new press secretary declared that Trump’s inaugural was viewed by the largest audience ever.
Despite this, Ryan says she’s not suiting up for battle. “And in that situation”.
And so, White House press secretary Sean Spicer took the opportunity at Friday’s press briefing to urge the American people to thank the many millionaires and billionaires in the administration for undergoing this “public scrutiny”.
That’s when Ryan tried to interject, but Spicer told her to “hold on”.
“My point is that you seem to be rushing to her defense”, he berated the reporters, reminding them where their attention should be pointed.
“I understand what Sean is doing”, she said.
During this week’s fiery exchange with Ms Ryan, Mr Spicer also made a joke about Russian salad cream which was immediately picked up on and mocked on Twitter.
“It’s interesting that you ask those questions back to back”, Spicer said.
Sean Spicer angrily dismissed inquiries about the matter Tuesday, declaring that “every single person who’s been briefed on this, as I’ve said ad nauseam from this podium. have been very clear that there is no connection between the president or the staff here and anyone doing anything with Russian Federation”.
Accounts from January corroborate what the Morning Joe host said, with Axios reporting that Trump had asked an aide, ‘Doesn’t that guy own a dark suit?’ When he calls somebody an idiot, when he says to you stop shaking your head, is that – look, there’s always been an adversarial relationship between the press secretary and the press, but is there something on a deeper, more personal, level happening now?
Spicer went on to criticize Ryan’s follow-up question about Condoleezza Rice’s recent meeting with Trump, and the veteran reporter apparently shook her head once again. On Tuesday, she bore the wrath of Sean Spicer’s bad temper when she asked a question about the White House’s current image.
An exasperated Sean Spicer on Tuesday colorfully downplayed questions about ties between President Donald Trump’s associates and Russian Federation, portraying a frenzied attempt to find connections where they don’t exist.
“If you can dish it, you have to be able to take it, ” Goldberg said.
Anita Kumar, a White House correspondent for McClatchy Newspapers, who sits beside Ryan in the briefing room said Ryan is “known for being refreshingly blunt”.
