Former governor of New York Eliot Spitzer is under investigation regarding an alleged assault against a woman at a Manhattan hotel, according to a New York police statement released on Sunday. Police entered the suite, spoke with Travis, and requested emergency services take her to the hospital.
Spitzer hasn’t been charged, and his spokeswoman has said there’s “no truth to the allegation” he choked Travis.
.
“After Spitzer opened the door a second time, the cops spied broken glass, bloodstains and clothing on the floor and started a search inside”, the Post reported. The police are still trying to establish the nature of the incident and who was involved.
Spitzer returned to the Plaza, where the woman had called 911 reporting a suicide attempt, Kaufmann said. At the hospital, the woman described her confrontation with Spitzer to police.
The woman then tried to kill herself by slitting her wrists and was taken to the hospital to be treated for the non-life threatening cut on her arm.

In 2008, a prostitution scandal forced Spitzer to resign as governor just fourteen months after being sworn in.
According to the lawyer, Mr. Spitzer went back to the hotel around 7 and found her in “a highly agitated state”.
Fox 5 News reported that the incident happened after the woman told Spizter that she was planning to return to her native Russian Federation.
A source said that cops would likely try to interview Spitzer, but noted that there wasn’t a strong legal basis on which to haul him in for questioning.
Investigators believe Mr Spitzer paid up to $80,000 (£55,000) for prostitutes over a period of several years while he was attorney general, and later as governor.
He had a short-lived stint as host of a TV political show and in 2013, he mounted an unsuccessful comeback as New York City’s comptroller.
She said she didn’t want to press charges. No other details were given.
