Although scriptwriter Lawrence Kasdan previously exposed in that mysteries about each one hero within the movie can be unveiled in “Star Wars Episode VIII” & “Star Wars Episode IX“, fans may get the reply earlier.
So what do you think about this theory?
Interestingly, original The Force Awakens writer Michael Arndt had a much more upbeat arc in mind for Han Solo, but was ultimately talked out of it by Abrams. It was Abrams, who pointed out, however, that this sort of story made Han Solo a superfluous character. While many consider that Luke is Rey’s father, some of them speculate in that Rey is the daughter of Han & Leia.
Fair enough, but Rey’s only available as part of the model and LEGO sets not the main action figure set, and you can get individual figures for Poe, Kylo and Finn, though you don’t have to buy them separately if you want them in the action figure group. And you would have said, ‘Okay, bad stuff happened, but at least they’re back together again.
“‘What is Han doing in this movie?’ If we’re not going to have something important and irreversible happen to him, then he kind of feels like luggage”, Abrams said. “He’s not really pushing the story forward”. “[Han Solo’s death is] this massive tradeoff”, Abrams acknowledged. However, over the course of the movie, we learn that Rey was not only abandoned as a child by her mysterious parents (entrusted with what looks to be Simon Pegg’s Unkar Plutt), but she also possesses incredibly strong Force abilities. This knowledge ate away at me as I sat down in my seat to finally watch the movie, but then something unbelievable happened; I spent the entirety of The Force Awakens with a gleeful grin ear to ear.
Abrams goes on to add an explanation to why Kylo Ren turned from the Light Side, characterizing the antagonist as a persona with incredible potential and Force that was misguided and unclear. You have this moment where you have clearly seen Kylo Ren struggling between good and evil, only to witness his full birth as a character destined for the Dark Side. It’s a brilliantly complex scene that gives a sense of character to Kylo Ren.
