Steelers end Giants’ winning streak at 6 in 24-14 victory

The Steelers will host the Giants on Sunday at Heinz Field in a NFL Week 13 game, which could have huge impacts in the AFC’s and NFC’s playoff races.

ABOUT THE STEELERS (6-5): Pittsburgh stopped a four-game skid with back-to-back road wins at Cleveland and Indianapolis, but each victory came against an opponent with an untested quarterback. Even on a quiet day Brown still showed glimpses of what makes him one of the best wide receivers on the planet, dazzling with sideline catches and precise route-running. The Giants will be visiting Pittsburgh for the first time since 2008, when NY came away on top 21-14.

Beckham finished with 10 receptions for 100 yards, but was held out of the end zone.

For a few minutes during draft day in 2004, he thought he was heading to NY with the fourth overall pick.

The Giants leads the overall series against the Steelers 44-29-3, but the latter have won a couple of of last three meetings. Apple later recorded his first career interception late in the third quarter on Roethlisberger’s pass intended for Eli Rogers.

Bullock last kicked for the Giants earlier this season, but he didn’t attempt a single field goal during his time with Big Blue. Lawrence Timmons’ interception of Manning in the red zone in the first half nearly certainly took points off the board for NY.

Green, who signed a lucrative four-year contract in the offseason but missed the first eight weeks while recovering from various health issues, played a pivotal role. The team only averages 79.5 yard per game, putting pressure on the pass attack to move the ball. Rashad Jennings would catch a short screen, walking into the end zone for 13 yards untouched for the score- lead cut to 14-7.

New York’s next two possessions ended with Manning throwing a fourth-down pick to end one drive, then ending up underneath Pittsburgh’s Ricardo Mathews on fourth down on another.

Pierre-Paul, one of three NY players injured in the first half, was hurt with 1:35 left before halftime during the Steelers’ final possession of the half, which ended in a field goal.

The Giants also lost defensive back Coty Sensabaugh, who has been taken to the hospital for further evaluation of a rib injury. But once again a timely play by a Steelers rookie.

Dwayne Harris was back to being the primary return specialist on both punts and kickoffs until leaving in the second half with an ankle injury.

The Washington Redskins lost on Sunday to fall to 6-5-1 and that means the NY stay a full two wins ahead of them in the Wild Card race. They bring their 7-5 record north next week to take on the Buffalo Bills.
