Steve Kerr returns to Golden State Warriors bench Friday

January 22 20:02 2016

Golden State head coach Steve Kerr, after being sidelined from the Warriors’ first 43 games this season, finally will be back on the sideline for their home game against Indiana Friday night at Oracle Arena (10:30 ET, ESPN). That’s because Steve Kerr is returning to the bench tonight as head coach of the Warriors, making Luke Walton the hottest coaching commodity ever.

Golden State’s start this season has matched the second-best 43-game start in National Basketball Association history, trailing only the 1995-96 Chicago Bulls mark of 40-3.

Kerr posted a 67-15 record and the Warriors won the National Basketball Association title previous year in Kerr’s debut season. All of the wins and losses are credited to Kerr.

During a shootaround in Cleveland on Monday before Golden State’s 132-98 blowout of the Cavaliers in an NBA Finals rematch, Kerr made an underhanded heave from half court that banked in. “Who knows? I haven’t even considered that at this point because I’m feeling good, and I don’t anticipate it”.

When’s the last time a coach with a. 907 winning percentage was replaced halfway through the season?

With assistant coach Luke Walton taking over, the Warriors did not miss a beat and own the league’s best record at 39-4.

Kerr has coached in practices and went on road trips with the team to gauge whether he could withstand the rigors of coaching in the National Basketball Association. I can tell you that, starting with the organization.

“He’s been awesome. He’s been wonderful, the job he’s done”, Kerr said.

“He’s a head coach waiting to happen any time, and hopefully he’ll take his time and stick around here for a little while”.
