Jay McGuiness has admitted he gulped down some whisky before he took to the dance floor for the “Strictly Come Dancing” final and is confident that’s why he won.
While The Wanted singer was the bookies favourite to win the competition, many have claimed the final was fixed after two of Bright’s dances were awarded ideal scores by the judges.
Although the figures beat past year, they fell short of 2013 when the audience reached 12.6 million and 2010’s 13 million.
EastEnders star Kellie Bright and her professional partner Kevin Clifton and former Coronation Street star Georgia May Foote and her professional partner Giovanni Pernice were the runners-up this year.
The Russian-Kazakhstani dancer broke the sad news via her Twitter page, in what will come as a shock to BBC viewers who saw her lift the Glitterball Trophy on Saturday evening.
McGuiness looked shocked when co-hosts Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman announced his name.
“I feel spaced-out, really weird”. “I just think it was one of the most special things I’ve ever done with the most special person”.
The BBC soap star put up a good fight, with a maximum of 40 points for her first two dances and 39 points for her third.
“I’m pleased as punch to be here in the final”, she beamed afterwards.
Foote said: “I’m so happy”.
Presenter Katie Derham and partner Anton Du Beke were eliminated earlier on Saturday night’s results show.
“I always collect tattoos when something awesome happened or something I want to remember, so yeah why not?”
Jay McGuiness swigged down some whisky just before his performance on “Strictly Come Dancing” over the weekend.
The star-studded final included appearances from this year’s contestants, The Great British Bake Off’s Mary Berry and chart-topper Ellie Goulding.
