Study finds people will spend about $150 each on Valentine’s Day gifts

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, and anxious lovers everywhere are busy googling for gift ideas. Many women will be grateful to know that, we’re sure.

If you’re like most Americans, you’ve probably consulted the Google machine at some point for Valentine’s Day gift inspiration. A lot of dorks in Iowa are apparently going to be tooling around on tandem bicycles.

We took the liberty of mapping out the data, which reveals some interesting trends about the price that people from different parts of the country puts on love.

At Q’doba, if you kiss someone at the restaurant on Valentine’s Day, you qualify for a free entrée with purchase of an entrée. New Hampshire is the most frugal in the nation at an average of $31. Nevada and Idaho were the only other states on the mainland to surpass the $100 mark at $112 and $111, respectively. I guess that’s the price to pay when you need to stay warm during those long winter nights finding love betwixt the cabins up north.

Finder.com, a personal finance comparison and education site, said the longer you’re married the less likely you are to get a gift.
