Alex is less than pleased when Kara tells her that Clark will be joining them on Sister night. Moreover, Kara apologizes to Alex and chose to stay in National City and fight to get his journalist job. Kara lives in National City assisting media mogul Cat Grant.
Oh and a new villain rears its ugly head this week, making all sorts of new problems for Kara and her friends. Ultimately though, M’gann proved herself time and time again to be one of the most heroic members of them all. Then discover our critique of “The Last Children of Krypton!“.
Superman’s arrival on Supergirl pretty much pushed back all other storylines in the beginning of season 2.
Thankfully, Winn is still there to turn to mush every time Superman is around to make him feel welcome. Metallo easily breaks them, but Martian Manhunter and Alex (wearing a power suit) come to the rescue. Telling Kara she has “done all I can do here” is a meta reference perhaps.
I’m theorizing that Supergirl will pay homage to Dean Cain’s role as Superman as well as the New 52 version of Cyborg Superman by having Cadmus modify Jeremiah, Kara’s adoptive father, into Cyborg Superman and set him against the Kryptonians and their allies.
And then there’s J’onn and Clark. Kelex, Superman’s robot Butler at the Fortress of Solitude (Alfred envy?) shows up to help Clark and J’onn mend fences.
In case you haven’t caught up yet, on this outing of the show, “CADMUS attacks National City with a kryptonite powered villain, who ends up seriously hurting Supergirl“. He also pledges to do anything he can to help find Jeremiah Danvers, who is now being experimented on somewhere at Cadmus. For her part, later at CatCo, Kara is feeling lost when she’s introduced to the new editor that Cat Grant has hired, Snapper Carr. Yep, Kara finally chose her career path (a question that was left open at the end of Season 1). In DC Comics, Cat Grant has a daytime talk show in Metropolis.
Crisis over, Kara learns that James is taking over Cat’s job.
Superman and Supergirl continue to work well together. The introduction of Kal-El after a season of build up kicked off what looks to be a strong sophomore season of Supergirl, with the show already showing it fully understands the brighter side of Superman with only two episodes. Supergirl battles Cyborg Superman in the Fortress of Solitude-and there can be only one victor!
Clearly, we’re meant to think that the menacing woman who injected the suspiciously Wolverine-admantium-like liquid metal into Corben to transform him into kryptonite fueled Metallo is the person who runs Cadmus. When the building is started to off, she had Superman hold it up while she figured out how to fix it and repaired the broken support beam.
In the comics, Superboy is a secret project in the basement of Cadmus who is rescued and trained to be a hero.
Born on the doomed planet of Krypton, the young Kara Zor-El (Melissa Benoist, Whiplash, Glee) escaped at the same time as her cousin, who would later become known as Superman.
With the Metallo’s stopped, J’onn agrees that the kryptonite reserves would be better handled in Superman’s care so he hands over the weapon and the two aliens settle their feud. After all, Kara was sent to Earth to protect and raise her cousin, but Clark didn’t return the favor when her stay in the Phantom Zone reversed their ages.
