Malaysian police said on Friday a preliminary report showed the murder of Kim Jong Nam was carried out with a highly toxic chemical known as VX nerve agent.

Kim Jong-nam died on February 13 after being attacked at Kuala Lumpur International Airport by two women, who are seen on CCTV footage shoving something into his face.

South Korean and U.S. officials have said they believe North Korean agents assassinated Kim Jong-nam, who had been living under China’s protection.

Samah said if the person concerned did not cooperate the police would issue a notice under Malaysian law, “compelling” them to appear before the investigation team.

Malaysian authorities also claim that one of the women accused in the attack suffered from vomiting after wiping the agent on Kim Jong Nam’s face. “They can knock down people fairly quick… if it is in a high enough concentration, it is quite fatal”.

The women, one a 28 year-old Vietnamese and a 25 year-old Indonesian have been arrested and remanded in custody.

“If the amount of the chemical brought in was small, it would be hard for us to detect”, Malaysian police inspector general Khalid Abu Bakar said. “Other exhibits are under analysis”, Khalid added in the statement. Asked Friday in a text message whether that was still the case, Khalid said, “We are doing it now”.

An autopsy revealed traces of VX – a fast-acting toxin that sparks respiratory collapse and heart failure – on the dead man’s face and in his eyes. North Korea has not acknowledged his death.

He said no charges have yet been brought against her. Later, they washed their hands and fled the scene.

Airport CCTV footage shows the moment of the assault, with Mr Kim later seen asking airport officials for medical help, and rubbing his eyes and stumbling as he entered a clinic. He died on the way to hospital.

Malaysian police said they believed four of the eight North Koreans they were looking for, were already back in the North Korean capital Pyongyang.

Malaysia has also denied North Korea’s request for Kim’s body to be handed over to its embassy directly, saying it would be released to the next of kin.

It has been confirmed that Iranian scientists entered North Korea on the occasions of its nuclear tests and test-lunching of newly developed missiles, and these scientists flew to North Korea mainly via Vladivostok. VX was also used by Saddam Hussein against Kurds.

VX has been used in an assassination before, in 1995 when the Japanese Aum Shinrikyo cult sprayed it on a businessman it believed was spying on its activities. Asahara was sentenced to death for the subway murders as well as producing deadly substances, including sarin and VX.
