Admittedly, it comes as a bit of a surprise that Swift would release her documentary on the streaming service, though, since the aforementioned public controversy, Swift and Apple have forged a sort of strategic relationship ever since.
Apple had originally made it clear that artists were not to be paid during the three months, but Swift’s influence over the music industry, and her stance against Apple, saw the tech giant initiate a rare turnaround announcing it was to pay artists.
Apple won a deal with pop star Taylor Swift to exclusively release a concert video of her recent world tour through its music streaming service, Apple Music, the company and the singer said on Sunday.
The singer also tweeted that an interview discussing the video would be broadcast at 9 a.m. PT on Monday on Beats 1, Apple’s radio station.
In the film, Swift talks about reaching out to fellow musicians to appear on her tour. Apple Music eventually became the only music streaming platform for Swift’s 1989 album.
Apple Inc. (NASDAQ: AAPL) launched its music streaming service in June 2015. She has also been critical of Apple’s payment policy for artists.
“I think Id be leaving a huge part out if I didn’t mention the blog post that I wrote”.
“I was struck with this overwhelming sense of fear”, she tells the host. Are they going to turn the video camera on? I wondered what it would look like if they were all lit up and just dancing around like no one was watching them.
Swift said she was “elated and relieved” at the response, adding: “They listened to us”.
“I wondered what it would be like to perform for 70,000 people”, birthday-girl Swift says as images of the fantastic tour fill the screen. “Like absolute terror hit”.
Taylor – who has jetted back to Los Angeles after wrapping up her “1989” world tour – marked her birthday by posting a picture of herself as a child with the caption: “Today I begin my 26th year of freaking out over stuff”.
“We hear you Taylor Swift and indie artists”.
