One person is said to be in critical condition, and two others are in serious condition.

One of the alleged attackers was arrested, and a doctor has told Sky News that the other suspect is in a stable condition after being taken to hospital for treatment.

Since October, 31 Israelis and two Americans have been killed in attacks allegedly carried out by Palestinians.

Most of those killed were Palestinians carrying out knife, gun or car-ramming attacks, Israeli authorities said.

TEL AVIV, Israel -Three people were killed Wednesday in a terrorist attack when two gunmen opened fire in a popular gourmet market in central Tel Aviv, Israeli police said.

Police have arrived at the scene of the shooting and are now working to secure it, according to a statement posted on Twitter by Mickey Rosenfeld, the foreign press spokesman for the Israeli Police. She says both were “neutralized”, which can mean either killed or detained. Police forces are combing the area searching for at least one shooter and are investigating the possibility that there was a second shooter.

Local reports suggest one of the gunmen had been disguised as an ultra-Orthodox Jew.

The incident occurred in Sarona Market, an area of trendy cafes and restaurants very close to the central military headquarters and defence ministry compound.

She says initial reports show there were “at least two terrorists”.

Police described the shooting as an apparent attack aimed against Israelis.
