On Sunday, the Cincinnati Bengals and Cleveland Browns will play for the first time since Hue Jackson left the Bengals to coach the Browns. The two teams have never met in the postseason.
The Cleveland Browns are the last of the winless teams in the National Football League this season and they sit at 0-6 thus far.
It’s been a rough beginning in Cleveland for Jackson, as the injury-plagued Browns (0-6) are off to their worst start since the 1999 season when they lost their first seven games as an expansion franchise. “This is a huge game for us, and for them”.
The Browns and Bengals have played 85 times in history, with the Bengals holding a 46-39 advantage in the regular season series. Rookie quarterback Cody Kessler has played admirably when he’s been on the field, completing 65% of his passes and throwing four touchdowns to just one interception. Quarterbacks coach Ken Zampese took over as coordinator, and while the transition was seamless in terms of his long-standing relationship with Dalton, the adjustment period is ongoing. They’re averaging more points per game (18.8) but trail the Bengals in yards per game, 365-348.
Only the Pittsburgh Steelers (4-2) have a winning record in the AFC North, and they must now play without star quarterback Ben Roethlisberger for the next four to six weeks, beginning Sunday against New England, because of a knee injury.
“I am very impressed, and I am happy for Terrelle when he is not playing us”, he said. “I think we have to keep working to become the best we can become”. He’s a great guy and not only that but when we’re in film study, he tells us how we could’ve done things better. “I’m just disappointed he isn’t doing that here for us”. The Browns are 29th in yards allowed and have only nine sacks, tied for sixth-fewest in the league.
All four teams are coming off losses in a division that has prided itself on being the NFL’s most hard in recent years despite the presence of the bottom-feeding Cleveland Browns. The team will likely rely heavily on their strong running game, but LeVeon Bell is just one slip-up away from the NFL’s substance abuse purgatory that stymied Browns’ wide receiver Josh Gordon for years.
The absence of Eifert, who had 13 TD catches past year, is significant, especially in the red-zone offense. There’s no lack of familiarity here as these two AFC North rivals are accustomed to going at it twice per season. Andy Dalton has thrown for 1,757 yards and six touchdowns this season while A.J. His passer rating is 97.2. “He’s going to get it figured out, I believe that. Obviously I haven’t done enough to help us win games”. And now the Bengals (2-4) are trying to figure out what to do with their struggling offensive line.
Cedric Ogbuehi got a holding penalty that wiped out a first down.
Jackson is having his own struggles in Cleveland.
NumberFire’s metrics now project Pryor to catch 5 passes for 67 yards and 0.38 touchdowns in Week 7 if he’s able to play.
“I miss the hell out of him“, Lewis said.
-WR Tyler Boyd’s improvement has been notable each week. Green has 42 receptions for 606 yards and two scores. “We’ve had some rough games early in the season”. They’ve done a good job running the ball, so we know we’ll get a heavy dose of that. You cant get dismayed by it. He’s a really, really good guy. He is listed as questionable to make his season debut this week after dealing with back and ankle injuries.
