Texas Gov. Greg Abbott to endorse Ted Cruz

The Texas GOP primary is based on a proportional system where 44 delegates are awarded according to statewide results and 108 are allocated based on how the candidates do in the state’s Congressional districts.

“You can get nowhere near first place in Texas and still vacuum up a whole lot of delegates just because of the size of the state”, said Todd Harris, Rubio’s chief strategist.

Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz has landed a major endorsement from Texas Gov. Greg Abbott less than a week before the GOP primary in the Lone Star state.

Historically, Texas has been one of the key states that predicts who will be the eventual party nominee.

Trump called Cruz, the Texas senator, a “soft, weak, little baby” and repeated his accusations that Cruz is a “liar”.

Earlier on Tuesday, Trump called Cruz “disloyal” on Twitter for the firing of his communications director Rick Tyler, and he again took a shot at Cruz near the end of the caucuses on Tuesday night. Marco Rubio of Florida at 15 percent. “Donald Trump brings out a whole new category of voter and I’m not even sure they’re Republicans but there’s no doubt that he turns them out”. “The question is can you cast doubt on his character and resume”, said O’Connell.

“I believe we are going to do well”, he said.

“You have to go after the fact that it is a myth that he is actually a highly successful businessman and then you have to say, when it comes to protecting the little guy, he is a con artist”, said O’Connell.

“The people who love Trump have a cult-like following for him”, he said. “And he’s the same Ted Cruz I served with when I was Attorney General and Ted was Solicitor General”.

Cruz is counting hard on winning his home state, and polls show him ahead. They agreed Cruz should devote his time and resources nearly exclusively to attacking Trump and his values if he hopes to defeat the real-estate mogul in the Bible Belt and remain competitive past March 1.

Trump lashed back at his rivals as he faced massive crowds in Arkansas and Tennessee.

In the South Carolina GOP primary, Trump won 32.5% support, while Rubio came in second with 22.5% and Cruz was third with 22.3%.

The strike, including pickets and a march, will culminate in a rally outside the Republican debate on the campus of the University of Houston. The difference between Donald Trump and Ted Cruz is that Ted Cruz not only taps into the anger and frustration.

Cruz says as a consistent conservative, he is the only one who can beat the frontrunner, billionaire Donald Trump.

Most in the audience were eager to forget his disappointing third-place finish in Tuesday’s Nevada caucus, and similar showing in Saturday’s SC primary.

Which makes his candidacy’s future all the more clouded if Super Tuesday is not a very, very good day for him.

“And the strongest non-Trump candidate will get the endorsement of the establishment”. At least two hopefuls ended up coming to meet Abbott: Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, who toured the border with Abbott 11 months ago, and retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson, who visited the Governor’s Mansion in October.
