The ‘DWTS’ Season 23 Finale Dances

November 22 10:57 2016

Jana Kramer’s chances of winning Season 23 of Dancing With the Stars came to an end on Monday night (Nov. 21), when she and her partner were eliminated from the competition on the first night of a two-night finale. Anyway, their redemption dance was a Viennese Waltz and they practically floated around the floor.

Considered to be among the strongest contenders in “Dancing with the Starsseason 23, many are betting that this pair will make it to the finale. Reporter: And we’ve got three athletes in the final, a race vehicle driver, an olympic gold medalist and of course a football player and they’re all competitors for a living so, guys, I think it’s safe we can expect a fierce faceoff in the ballroom tonight. The routine was classic and attractive and earned rave reviews from the judges. Julianne noted how the crowd went insane for the dance and thought he brought joy, charm and charisma to the ballroom; Len thought the routine had both entertainment and content; and Carrie Ann said the world needs more Calvin’s in the world. Jana really bettered herself over the course of the show, and I’m really disappointed that she won’t be heading to the finale. Calvin and Lindsay broke away from the pack on Face-off Night (week 3), earning the highest score of the night.

Jana Kramer and Gleb Savchenko didn’t quite land either of their routines tonight. The top four were neck-and-neck, with only a point or two separating them.

But he stumbled after her sheer white skirt accidentally blew up into his face during their live freestyle dance. One of them, we hope, fingers crossed, could be bringing that mirror-ball trophy back to Ford Field for a visit.

Hernandez, for her part, will likely be getting a ton of support from her gymnastics pals throughout the evening. I will say that James once again danced like he belongs in the final, and possibly holding the trophy at the end. Judge Julianne Hough called it “awesome”, Len said it was “fantastic” and Bruno said Laurie was the embodiment of the spirit of youth. Though that might be hard to believe, she seemed genuine. Before we get to the elimination, here’s a recap of how the judges scored all four couples during the two rounds of dancing on Monday night.

It’s probably not surprising to hear that their freestyle was off the charts. Unfortunately, their missteps during both performances were too much to overcome.

Judge Carrie Ann Inaba has deemed herself the “Lift Police” and deducts a point from the score of any couple doing a lift in a dance that forbids it. Just kidding, you guys. They ended up with a 37 for that one. The inspiration for the routine was James’ brush with death after his racing accident. That put them ahead of Kramer, who earned a total of 71, but behind Hinchcliffe’s 77 and Hernandez’ 78. I mean, isn’t this what we all wait for each season? It was “visual poetry”, judge Bruno Tonioli added. I can’t deny it being 40-worthy, but I’m basic and want the fun of Calvin’s and Laurie’s. 40.

After the night’s new performances, one couple will be eliminated just one night shy of the official finale. The song uses the melody from the 1938 song “Heart and Soul”.

“This has been incredible”, the “Circles” singer said after her elimination.

“Those people up there so deserve to be there, they’re absolutely wonderful”, she shared. It was our time.
