The NCAA will investigate Michigan State’s handling of Larry Nassar scandal

Former gymnastics champion Mattie Larson has been in detailing the sexual abuse she suffered at the hands of former team U.S. sports doctor Larry Nassar at his ongoing trial. She said she was assaulted for almost one year, often with her mother in the room.

As victim after victim detailed Nassar’s actions – they also slammed a lack of accountability among sporting institutions. He also has pleaded guilty to three charges of criminal sexual conduct in Eaton County in MI and is due to be sentenced on those charges after this case. “I was informed that a sports medicine doctor was under investigation”, Simon said Wednesday after she appeared in court for Nassar’s sentencing hearing.

Nassar, 54, has admitted sexually assaulting athletes under the guise of medical treatment when he was employed by Michigan State University and USA Gymnastics, which as the sports national governing organization trains Olympians.

The minimum 40-year sentence was previously agreed to by Nassar last year when he pleaded guilty to seven counts of first-degree criminal sexual misconduct.

The university hired a former federal prosecutor to investigate whether the school handled things properly with Nassar.

Three top officials of USA Gymnastics’ board of directors resigned this week but USOC is demanding an entire overhaul of the board.

The US sportswoman said tried to give herself concussion – just so she could avoid attending the national camp run by the sex fiend. “We are here. We have our voices, and we are not going anywhere”. I was 100 percent confident there were other victims speaking up and being silenced.”.

The sentence was handed down after a marathon of heartbreaking testimony from Nassar’s victims.

Although they can choose to remain anonymous, numerous accusers — some of them minors — have opted to make their names public. “They’re smart enough to know they’re not competent to walk in here on this”.

“I’d been told during my entire gymnastics career to not question authority”, a former elite gymnast, Isabell Hutchins, said Tuesday. “Like the feeling as if I’m being assaulted by you all over again”. She said Nassar groped and fondled her when she was a 15-year-old gymnast in MI. “So you shouldn’t be scared anymore”, Aquilina told a victim last week.

When the hearing ended, the courtroom broke into applause. “I can’t even put into words how much I fucking hate you”. Release the shame, embarrassment, guilt that you said you have here and now.”.

Nassar is said to have assaulted multiple Olympic gymnasts, including Aly Raisman, McKayla Maroney, Gabby Douglas and Jordyn Wieber.

The final woman to deliver a statement in court was Rachael Denhollander, the first to publicly accuse Nassar of abuse and file a police report against him. We support their decisions to resign at this time. “Zero accountability! It’s like none of us were ever abused”.

The emotional sentencing hearing stretched days longer than originally scheduled, as more and more women came forward. She called them “sister survivors”, while also assuring them that their perpetrator would pay.

“Leave the blame here and go out and do great things in the world”, she said to one person who spoke in court today. This bad part of their past is exposed to all.”.

She said: “No matter what Larry was supposed to be treating on me – usually ankles or knees -his fingers always seemed to find their way inside me”.

Day 5: Victim says she is still receiving bills for appointments where she was assaulted
