The top 3 Miss Universe contestants were asked this one question

“I feel I was failing myself because I was not living my dreams, I was living day by day in that quake”, Pelissier had answered. [No hunnay, he wasn’t].

It wasn’t just the hard and tricky question she got from the organisers.

As always, she stunned the fans with her elegant dressing sense.

“You just have to enjoy”, Diaz, who won the pageant in 1969, said.

Answer: The king of Thailand.

“On behalf of the Filipino people, I congratulate Miss France for bagging the Miss Universe crown from 85 other candidates from around the world”.

“I want to help people, I want to understand people, I want to meet people, that’s why this is a dream for me”.

“Thank you so much Pia”, Harvey sheepishly said to a laughing crowd. Mittenaere was a clear favorite from the very start and beat out Andrea Tovar from Colombia who placed third place and Raquel Pelissier from Haiti who ended up in second place.

“If tonight, I will not be one of the winners, I will still have the honour of being one of the three finalists”, she said. It’s something big to us that we are one. A hundred thousand years ago, 6 species of human lived in the world. As one nation, we are all together. Miss Thailand came in a close second in the official online poll with 39.97M votes compared to Miss Philippines’ 39.98M votes. “Campaigns, respect and inclusivity to be able to have a social transformation that would educate our children”, said the 23 year old. “I really want to be a good Miss Universe“.

In the Q&A portion, Mittenaera fielded a tough and timely question about immigration, about whether or not countries have an obligation to accept refugees.

Iris Mittenaere from the town of Lille in northern France was visibly stunned when she won the beauty contest featuring 86 contestants.

In Europe, we have opened borders. The victor was Miss France. When asked about the situation she was adamant about keeping borders open. Before entering into the glamour world, she was part of various youth orchestras in Rhode Island, US.

Miss France Iris Mittenaere became the new Miss Universe 2016 although the pageant took place in 2017.

Here, Miss Kenya, Mary Esther, does admit that the political question took her by surprise, and linked here is the answer that she gave, but she graciously feels she composed herself and answered as best as she could right in the moment despite not expecting a political question to arise.
