There was also that moment last week when Carl held two of Negan’s men at gunpoint, telling the Big Bad to leave Alexandria before he found out how unsafe his and Rick’s group could be. Maggie. Maggie Rhee. You could nearly hear Aretha sing “R-E-S-P-E-C-T” in the background.
What made the episode work was the conflict between the Hilltop’s leader, Gregory, and the trio of Sasha, Maggie, and Jesus over whether the women would be allowed to stay. Since the raucous season premiere, the show has meandered through season seven with four episodes that could’ve been edited into one. Enid reunited with Maggie who was happy to see the young one pay her a visit. In the AMC series, Sophia had long perished yet in the comics, she lives on. But kicking Sasha and Maggie out into the streets is only going to cause more problems. And now that Rick has stepped down and accepted Negan as their leader, we now have Maggie in full furry ready to take charge. And not only will Mags be staying at the Hilltop until she has her baby, but Gregory is gonna cut the shenanigans and call her by her name: Maggie Rhee.
Another character whose arc became clearer from the latest episode is Sasha, who gets her story from another perished character.
I don’t know about anyone else, but I found the walkers invading the Hilltop Colony to be refreshing.
Pretty sure some people are going to feel like tonights episode lands in the filler column, but there was some noteworthy progress just the same.

In Hilltop, Maggie and Sasha are the stars.
Thankfully, Maggie and her unborn child are okay. She has nothing left to lose. When Glenn was killed, a pregnant Maggie was clearly crushed. The circumstances surrounding her move were bad, but it was a blessing for Hilltop. If Jesus is serious about eventually grooming Maggie for leadership of the colony, then it is important to know whether the people are with or against Gregory. Gregory was just in the right place at the right time.
As the episode begins, Maggie wakes up at Hilltop Colony, where she was treated for the illness that almost killed her.
Maggie has always been a strong female presence on the AMC series, but this week she stepped up into a new role that will make her a major player in the inevitable war to come.
Other stars in the TV series include Chandler Riggs as Rick’s son Carl Grimes, Norman Reedus is primary hunter Daryl Dixon, and David Morrissey was The Governor. Rick has appeared to given up and has conceded to Negan.
The “Walking Dead” stars are now heading home, having completed Season 7 filming last week, and they probably won’t return to set until mid-April 2017 for early May filming – if Season 8 sticks with the usual schedule.
