The Walking Dead recap: ‘The Lost and the Plunderers’

Though Rick and Negan’s greatest bond is their mutual hatred for each other, they’ve mostly been portrayed as opposites. So, it’s no surprise when Simon suggests to Negan that they should cut their losses and just move the Saviors to a different area that Negan tells him no. They have people, weapons, and were seen with them at the Sanctuary. However, he does make a point to say that once he “clips Rick, everything will be aces”. But “The Lost and The Plunderers” also revealed that he wrote a letter to Negan, which was clearly not pleased with Rick. His letter to Negan is a plea to work with his father for peace. Rick tells him it is too late though. Alexandria has been destroyed, the Hilltop finds themselves pinned, and the Kingdom is shattered – half of them dead, the other half controlled by the Saviors. Jadis’s stagnant speech was annoying, and we never knew what the community’s angle was. We get it, people have to take sides in this struggle, but it’s also important to properly identify the enemy.

And it’s brought even further to the surface thanks to Rick’s reaction, which is carnal and vicious. He grabs a auto door as a shield. Negan yells, demanding him to do his job.

While Rick and Michonne try to come to grips with what’s happening to Carl, Siddiq interrupts them to offer medicine and, frankly, I got highly annoyed because I didn’t want to hear one dang word outta his mouth. I wanted to ask you.I.aybe you’ll beat us. Rick’s a prime example of that (not that he hasn’t been for years anyway) – he seemingly makes decisions on a whim, and often ends up regretting them, which can be frustrating for anyone trying to enjoy the show.

In the meantime, Rick used a stolen walkie-talkie to dial up Negan and deliver the sad news about Carl.

Has Rick changed through Carl’s death? It’s classic Negan – telling people things would be fine if they just did things his way – but dressed up in the tone of someone who is nearly sorry for it.

Simon knows this, and he feels that Negan’s campaign of intimidation is more like a damp squib. He’d take the organization and the saving people philosophy from Negan, but the strength and guidance from his father.

After allying with Rick, she double-crossed Alexandria and sided with Negan, culminating in the massive shoot-out at the end of the seventh season. “Did he want us to surrender to Negan?“. He doesn’t want interference from Enid or Maggie; he does well with engagement by working alone. Simon pointedly asked Jadis about the amenity, and then follows it up with an ominous statement: “I wanna know if you know”.

Cindy sets them free with a warning to never come back. There can’t be two leaders.

The final moments of the episode were Negan telling Rick how it was his fault that his son died. Maybe his call to Negan was a little cathartic, but all it accomplished was giving Negan a chance to throw things back in his face AND give him information. Here’s all the hints Rick is about to take a much darker path. As Rick suspected, Negan shifts his attention to the Scavengers. Here’s hoping this community gets a story overhaul too. If he kills Negan, would the rest of the Saviors fall in line to stay alive? They leave Jadis behind and fight their way to the entrance. Granted, many issues later – as in, our current moment in the comic books’ narrative – Dwight and Rick aren’t exactly seeing eye to eye anymore. It’s quite an exchange, as Negan is genuinely bummed to hear of Carl’s demise.

“You are”, Rick replies.

Except, of course, they joined the world, they chose sides, and that was Jadis’ downfall.
