It is still going to be much colder than usual with lows dropping to the middle to upper 20s. There may be a few lingering snow showers in Northern Maine, Saturday. Moisture looks to move in late Saturday night lasting right through much of the daytime hours Sunday.
The mountains will see mostly cloudy skies today with rain and snow developing after 3 pm. I think by Wednesday of next week, we’ll see temps reach normal values (low 50s) and perhaps reach 60 by next Thursday!
Forecasters are calling for accumulating snow of 2 to 4 inches in those areas and wind gusts near 30 miles per hour. A cold front slides across the region tonight and by morning will lie along the Missouri Arkansas border. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible. Both days will see temperatures in the mid to upper 60s with overnight lows dropping into the 40s north and 50s south.
“At this point a year ago, there was much more spring going on”, he said, adding that temperatures continue rising a degree or so each day.
Meteorologist said high temperatures Friday is expected to be in the lower 70s, “with relative humidity values dropping to around 25 to 30 percent”. Before that happens, we’ll watch the evolution of this coastal low late Monday night into Tuesday. The gray skies keep temperatures chilly in the lower 40s. The chance of snow continues on Sunday. A weaker system may cause some wet flakes before changing to showers on Monday. The greatest chance for accumulating snow is along the coast of MA and Rhode Island with chances diminishing to the north.
Some light snow or rain remained possible early Saturday, and the forecasts call for an outside chance of snow Saturday night as a coastal storm develops.
