There Will Not Be A Sony Xperia Z6

February 25 03:33 2016

Sony’s Xperia Z line has delivered some high quality phones, but obviously Sony is heading in another direction with the Xperia X phones.

Sony announced earlier this week the all new Xperia X series smartphones like Xperia X, Xperia XA and Xperia X Performance. But Sony’s Bulgarian unit said on Facebook that the X series is a completely new line rather than a replacement to Z series. The company added that the new X series would replace the Z line. While companies more invested in the smartphone game need to reveal devices that are distinctly different from their predecessors, Sony is still small enough (in smartphones, anyway) to release a device that’s just ever-so-slightly different from the one that came before it.

The Xperia X and X Performance are similar when it comes to its design and hardware. The only major difference between both devices seem to be that the X has more rounded corners, as well as an aluminum unibody, unlike the Z5’s glass back and front. What do you think of Sony’s change to a new line of phones?

DesignSony’s latest flagship smartphone the Xperia Z5 is a great looking phone that feels ultra premium.

Meanwhile, the affordable Xperia XA is packed with a MediaTek MT6755 processor with 2GB of RAM.

Where software is concerned, it looks like these were running Android 6.0 Marshmallow, and Sony has a light skin running on top of things here, too.

“Although we can never confirm about the future possibilities of our product line-up, we can share with you that we have no plan to launch Xperia Z6 at this stage”, a Sony spokesperson told us in a statement – with the “at this stage” being the key part of that statement.

This also unfortunately means that I was unable to test out the X’s fingerprint scanner.

Nothing’s been confirmed yet, though, so we’ll just have to wait to see what Sony has in store.

The rear camera of Xperia X is of 23-megagpixel and the front panel houses a 13-megapixel selfie snapper.
