Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton did not waste any time on Wednesday night sparring over two of the most contentious issues in USA politics: Americans’ rights to guns and abortions. “And the kind of people that I would be looking to nominate to the court would be in the great tradition of standing up to the powerful, standing up on behalf of our rights as Americans, and I look forward to having that opportunity”. I will stand with you. That’s not really what Clinton has in mind when she talks about defending Roe vs. Wade, not to mention, it just never happens.
Republican candidate Donald Trump.
Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, appointed to the Supreme Court by President Bill Clinton, said in an interview in July that she “can’t imagine” what the court or the country would be like under a President Trump. And while intact dilation and evacuation (D&X) is legal when a woman’s life is at stake if she doesn’t terminate the pregnancy, there’s little chance a woman who’s been wanting her pregnancy up until that point, or the doctor treating her, will choose D&X when there are less controversial and legally ambiguous ways to accomplish the abortion.
“I am pro-life and I will be appointing pro-life judges”, Trump said, adding that if he is elected the Supreme Court will “automatically” overturn Roe v. Wade.
“And in this case, it’s not only about Roe v. Wade“.
“Well, that is not what happens in these cases”, Clinton retorted. Is it possible one or two women may have an abortion at 24 or 25 weeks in these states and it not be for the health of mother?
On Facebook, Alyson Draper described her late-term abortion, which was illegal in her home state of Utah.
“I want to explore how far you believe the right to abortion goes”. She told MSNBC’s Chuck Todd, “The unborn person doesn’t have constitutional rights”, and in response to a question from The View’s Paula Faris -“are you saying that a child, on its due date, just hours before delivery still has no constitutional rights?”- answered, “Under our law, that is the case, Paula”.
The third and final presidential debate Wednesday night helped voters understand exactly where each candidate stands on the abortion issue. I will defend Roe v Wade and I will defend women’s rights to make their own healthcare decisions.
In the end, Draper wanted to push across a message that asserted two things: Such decisions are painful and delicate, and they should only be left to the woman. “And using that kind of scare rhetoric is just terribly unfortunate”. “It will go back to the states and the states will be making the decision”, the GOP nominee said.
If you are ripping a baby out of its mother’s womb at 9 months, what you’re doing is performing a c-section.
Former abortionist Dr. Anthony Levatino and a consensus of more than 1,000 OB/GYNs, neonatologists, and other health experts agree that with modern medicine, abortion is never medically necessary to save the life of the mother. And, because I was not delivering a live baby, I was allowed to have morphine.
. There is even a medical term for this – turnaways – and it has been studied so we know exactly why women present too late: difficulty finding a provider; difficulty getting to the provider, especially given some states require multiple visits; and difficulty affording the procedure.
