Molby stated in his column for the Liverpool Echo: “What an incredible victory for Liverpool supporters this week, with the club’s U-turn on ticket price increases”.

“It is obviously a significant success for the Liverpool supporters’ groups, Spion Kop 1906 and Spirit of Shankly, who organised the protest and managed to get a huge amount of support”, FSF chairman Malcolm Clarke told Press Association Sport. But both the Manchester clubs and a few London clubs invest a lot. However, the supporters of the club were not too happy with this decision, as they showed by staging a mass walkout during Liverpool’s home game against Sunderland on Saturday.

In the Centenary stand, tickets will cost less than they do for this season’s six category A games, but will be more expensive than they are for the 13 other category A and B games this term.
The highest season ticket price will be frozen at £869 and the lowest at £685.
The Premier League has confirmed plans to push through price cuts for away fans in the wake of mounting protests.
“We met directly with representatives of LFC’s Supporters’ Committee and along with LFC management, wholeheartedly agreed with major concerns raised, notably: access for local and young supporters; engagement and access to Anfield for local children; access to Premier League matches for those in Liverpool most challenged by affordability”.
“A great many of you have objected strongly to the £77 price level of our most expensive GA seats and expressed a clear expectation that the club should forgo any increased revenue from raising prices on GA tickets in the current environment. Anfield is a great stadium and you feel the history in every moment”, he explained.
“It is not an issue for me to make a decision, it is professional football in a year and it is only one game a year going to your former club. They deserve to be treated fairly”. This season will allow him to gauge which members of the playing staff he wants to keep in situ before delving into the summer window; then we’ll be able to offer a fairer judgement on the job being done at Anfield.
“When you’re living in Liverpool, which isn’t the richest city in the world, you’re pricing out older fans and that’s where the anger comes from”.
