Tim Cook says Apple is considering bringing its software services to Android

Cook also reportedly discussed new retail stores in China, Apple’s upcoming “spaceship” campus, and more. Running with that idea, he goes on to say that he’s not even opposed to releasing more Android apps, using Apple Music as a way of testing the waters.

Earlier this month, during its first-quarter earnings call, CEO Cook said that Apple will continue to invest in India despite global slowdown and currency fluctuations. The upcoming unveiling of the iPad 3 admittedly seems intriguing, but one wonders if Cook is becoming so beholden to the iPad as to ignore the reality of slumping sales.

We were expecting Apple Music to turn up on Android for several months before it actually did, but the app’s November Google Play Store roll-out was no less of a jolt. Among the announcements and hints Cook talked about range from offering more Apple services for Android, Apple Watch sales, future iPad growth and more.

The CEO also noted that Apple Watch is among its “hottest” holiday presents.

The company has also added extended maternity and paternity leave to most of its office operations in countries outside the US.

Cook said that Apple TV and tvOS are two products which point towards a “bright” future for Apple; and expressed excitement over some of the expected product launches the company will announce this year. The comments by Tim directly relate to the upcoming “iPhone 5se“, which some rumors have suggested will be positioned as a less powerful, lower-end device, though not a cheap one by general smartphone standards.

The town hall meeting was held shortly after Apple posted what Wall Street considered to be a bad quarter, despite Apple generating over $18 billion in profit. The last quarter of 2015 was considered Apple’s best quarter in the Indian region, with 800,000 shipments.
