CBS Sports confirmed the trade and said that the Sox get Frazier and the Dodgers are getting right-hander Frankie Montas, infielder Micah Johnson and outfielder Trayce Thompson out of the deal.
Chicago plans to move newly-acquired third baseman Brett Lawrie to second base to accommodate Frazier, according to USA Today’s Bob Nightengale. A Reds 2007 first-round draft pick, he has had at least 19 homers and 22 doubles each of the last four seasons with the Reds and has compiled a career. In adding him, the White Sox have acquired a legitimate third baseman that they’ve been searching for, and a proven offensive weapon as well. Anderson is rated by MLB.com as the #38 prospect in all of baseball.
The White Sox surrendered three prospects in this deal. Ken Rosentha of Fox Sports reported the trade was a three-team deal with the White Sox acquiring Frazier from the Reds.
Friedman opted for the package of three players from the White Sox instead, who give the Dodgers three players who all saw time in the majors in 2015 and could again in 2016. Some see Peraza as having the ceiling of a utility infielder.
