It’s more likely that if this is indeed the title of the “Spider-Man” film, it’s referencing the character’s integration into the Marvel Cinematic Universe following two previous film franchises produced in separate continuities exclusively by Sony.
From the writer who brought you wallcrawling, webslinging epics such as Spider-Verse, Superior Spider-Man, Spider Island and more comes the next defining moment in the life of the Amazing Spider-Man! Sony has not yet confirmed that “Homecoming” is the title or part of the film’s title.
Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige previously revealed that his intention with this new Spider-Man film is to tell a high school-set Spider-Man story, which was further bolstered by the casting of 19-year-old Tom Holland as Peter Parker. One, it is the title of a story arc in the comics from the ’80s, a story arc that featured appearances from Tony Stark, Steve Rogers, Thor, Hawkeye and even Black Cat. This possible title for the film should temper those expectations a bit.
Directed by Jon Watts (“Cop Car“), the “Spider-Man” reboot is scheduled to hit theaters on July 7, 2017.
Having released a selection of teaser images last week [see here], Marvel has now announced the upcoming release of the Amazing Spider-Man event Dead No More from Dan Slott and Jim Cheung. Only time will tell, unless Sony releases a statement clearing all of this up.
The title of that film, which will star Tom Holland and Zendaya, has not yet been revealed, but a new domain registration might just offer new information about that title. While the next Spider-Man movie is now casting, several details remain unknown. “We were artificially silent on the character because it was such a sensitive business deal still being worked out even while we were shooting”. “I think people are going to be happy with him in the movie, he’s got a very interesting role in it”.
