Top Twitter executives to leave company in reshuffle

According to unnamed sources speaking to Recode, three top executives at the company are allegedly on the way out: Katie Jacobs Stanton, Twitter’s vice president of global media; Kevil Weil, senior vice president of product; and Alex Roetter, senior vice president of engineering.

It also said that Jason Toff, head of Twitter’s video streaming service Vine, may also depart, as would its business development leader, Jana Messerschmidt, who has expressed unwillingness to continue further.

The exits, first reported by Re/code and followed by the New York Times, are yet to be announced publicly, but there are already additional rumors that the company will name a “high profile media personality” to its board.

Twitter declined to comment on Sunday.

If the company meets expectations, Mr. Dorsey has said, “Twitter will become the first thing everyone in the world checks to start their day and the first thing people turn to when they want to share ideas, commentary or simply what’s happening”.

Some of the executives are departing under pressure and others decided on their own to leave the company, the person said. Since Twitter named Mr. Dorsey CEO, its stock has fallen 37% to $17.84.

Weil has been at Twitter since 2009, though he has only served as its product head for about a year.

Twitter is reportedly losing four of its top executives, according to Re/code and The New York Times.

Ms. Stanton, who is responsible for Twitter’s media partnerships with news, TV, sports and music, joined Twitter in 2010 and was elevated to run global media in 2014. The company will announce the two new board members soon, the person said.

Now Mashable is reporting that a major Twitter investor has confirmed that the departures were the result of a long-planned restructuring.

Jack Dorsey is an American programmer and entrepreneur widely known as a co-founder and CEO of Twitter, and as the founder and CEO of Square, a mobile payments company. The product head, Kevin Weil, had been interviewing for other jobs over the past few months, according to several other people familiar with his plans. She previously worked at Google Inc and Yahoo Inc as well as the White House and State Department. The company has been looking to add directors since appointing former Google Inc. executive Omid Kordestani as executive chairman in October.
