Although it’s by no means new under the skin, the Camry NASCAR is completely new on the outside, featuring all the important design elements seen on the road vehicle. But turbochargers? Move along.

For 2018, the vehicle hopes to carry on that legend with an all-new design that features a lower hood, lower roof and wider stance.

The company declined to say if the investments would lead to the creation of new jobs, a key mantra of Mr Trump, who has repeatedly targeted vehicle manufacturers with his tweets.

The all-new, eighth-generation 2018 Toyota Camry was unveiled on Monday at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.

DETROIT-Toyota is seeking to inject fresh energy into the best-selling auto in America, Toyota Camry, as low gasoline prices undermine mid-size sedans and nudge consumers into crossovers and sport-utility vehicles.

It’s not just a styling makeover, although that’s certainly the first thing to hit you, with its subtly muscular lines over the rear wheel arches, integrated rear diffusers and lower, more aggressive hood design.

In addition to the car’s standard reversing camera, Toyota Safety Sense adds full-speed-range dynamic cruise control, forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, and automatic high-beam headlights. Service Connect allows the driver to check current fuel level and more, while WiFi Connect provides a 4G LTE hotspot for up to five devices.

Then there’s Blind Spot Monitor (BSM) with Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA) and Intelligent Clearance Sonar (ICS) with Rear Cross Traffic Braking (RCTB).

While the instrument panel sees a 7-inch multi-information display between the speedo and rev-counter, the centre dash incorporates an 8-inch display for navigation and audio controls.
