With all five medals draped around her neck, she was escorted to the mound by 2015 National League MVP Bryce Harper prior to the third game of the series between regional rivals the Washington Nationals and Baltimore Orioles. He hit three batters, walked three more and yielded seven hits. 5-3, Orioles. Harper and Hart battled, but Hart got him to strike out on a 3-2 pitch to minimize the damage and escape the inning with the lead. After struggling in his first outing in April 2015, he has made a handful of appearances out of the bullpen since, though most of his career thus far has been with the Syracuse team. “He threw a heck of a game”, Nationals manager Dusty Baker said. Add Reynaldo Lopez, who has four starts, with the past two very good, and the team can get by for now without Strasburg.

Both those homer came off Washington’s A.J. Cole, who was called up from the minors for his season debut in place of injured ace Stephen Strasburg.

Pitching in his fourth major league game and making his second start, Cole displayed plenty of poise and mixed his pitches well.

“I’ve swum in front of 14,000 people”, Ledecky said of the pitch. I nearly took him out after the fifth, but he said he felt good and wanted to go there. but we needed those six innings.

Record-setting Olympic swimmer Katie Ledecky will throw out the first pitch on Wednesday evening at Nationals Park, NBC Washington reported Tuesday afternoon. The stadiums are 38 miles apart on MD-295.

Tickets are still available for those interested in the third game in the Beltway series, which the Orioles lead 2-0. The Orioles don’t have the luxury of a big cushion in the American League wild-card race, where they are holding off the Seattle Mariners for the second spot. Harper went down 0-2, laid off three pitches in the dirt and eventually struck out to end the threat.

The winning pitcher was Wade Miley (8-10), who posted his first win as a member of the Orioles. Good pitchers are easy to handle.

“I just know that we’re starting to swing the bats”, Baker said.

Zach Britton worked a flawless ninth to earn his 38th save in 38 tries. His string of 43 games without one is the longest since the earned run became official – dating back more than 100 years.

Daniel Murphy tried to set the stage for a dramatic rally, but even the first grand slam of his career wasn’t enough juice to get the Washington Nationals out of their funk. He walked three and struck out three in the game while holding the Braves scoreless through the first five innings until Ender Inciarte took him deep with a two-run home run in the sixth inning. In came Mychal Givens to put out the fire.

The Orioles (68-56) were hitless until Schoop led off the third with a moon shot over the left-field foul pole for his 20th home run.

The fact that the O’s won this game without too much assistance from home runs bodes well.

The Orioles left eight runners on base in five innings against him. Alomar had 22 in 1996, but two were not as a 2B.
