Trump accuser files defamation lawsuit over response to her allegations

Zervos claims Trump kissed and groped her in a Beverly Hills hotel room in 2007, making her feel nervous and embarrassed.

Her hands visibly shaking as she held a copy of her statement, Zervos said she had “no alternative” but to sue Trump to vindicate her reputation.

Hope Hicks, a spokesperson for Trump’s presidential transition, was quoted yesterday as saying there was “no truth to this absurd story”. “This lawsuit did not need to be filed”.

Trump vehemently denied the Zervos’ account, as well as the other sexual assault allegations that quickly emerged after the Access Hollywood recording. While campaigning for president, Trump claimed that Zervos and his other accusers were liars motivated by fame.

Zervos, the lawsuit says, then “saw Trump’s behavior towards her for what it was: that of a sexual predator”.

The defamation suit was filed Tuesday morning, Allred said.

On the campaign trail previous year, Trump said, ‘Every woman lied when they came forward to hurt my campaign.

According to Zervos, she decided to make her story public after she came across the 2005 video clip in which Trump was heard talking in a crass manner about women.

She said she continued to pursue a job with Trump until he told her he could not afford to hire her as he was laying off thousands of employees.

Zervos, said that she came forward in October, she’s been bullied and threatened by Trump and his supporters.

Zervos said Trump treated her like “an object”, and that after hearing leaked audio of his boasting of being able to grope and kiss women regardless of their consent and his denials of inappropriate sexual conduct, she felt she had to speak out.

“She did not go public or take any action against Mr. Trump at that time, however, because she decided that Mr. Trump’s behavior had either been an aberration, a test, or that he had even regretted or been ashamed of his behavior”, Allred said. Two lawsuits over restaurants in his DC hotel could be headed for trial, and Trump was deposed in one of the suits last week.

Celebrity attorney Gloria Allred is representing Zervos.

Today, Summer Zervos came forward with Allred to further explain the lawsuit against Trump, calling it a “defamation lawsuit“.

Mr Trump could not be immediately reached for comment. Allred also said they would seek “outtakes of Trump’s recorded words” from The Apprentice. Her client is also suing for emotional distress, but is not suing Mr Trump for alleged sexual assault. He falsely stated: “Every woman lied when they came forward to hurt my campaign, total fabrication”.
