Real-estate tycoon Donald Trump is continuing his war against Fox News host Megyn Kelly less than a week before she and two other Fox anchors are set to moderate the next GOP presidential primary debate. “Donald Trump is just trying to build up the audience for Thursday’s debate, for which we thank him”, Fox said in a statement.
Despite his history with Kelly, Trump magnanimously told Blitzer that he would “probably” attend the debate.
Trump and Kelly have had significant back and forth after he infamously said she looked like she had blood “coming out of her wherever” after he disliked her questions at a Republican debate. It’s the final face-off among the GOP candidates before the Iowa caucus. Kelly asked Trump about misogynist and sexist comments he had made in the past, calling women names including “fat pigs” and “slobs”. On Jan. 11, following the release of the anchor’s Vanity Fair cover story, the Republican candidate posted a scathing tweet, targeting Kelly’s appearance and her appeal with the opposite sex.
“Megyn Kelly has no conflict of interest”, the network wrote. But, we’ll see what happens. Trump remains upset over a series of relatively tame questions from the August primary debate.
It’s not the first time in recent weeks that Trump has gone after Kelly.
“I’m not 100 percent, I’ll see”, Trump said. He talked of “her hatred and her bias”, and the the billionaire businessman also slammed conservative personality Glenn Beck, who had taken to his radio airwaves earlier in the day to endorse Trump’s arch Iowa rival Ted Cruz, a USA senator from Texas.
“By the way, he endorsed Ted Cruz”.
Trump eventually toned down his comments about Kelly, but he has criticized her off and on ever since.
Donald Trump still leads in Iowa according to Real Clear Politics aggregated polls, but Ted Cruz is only 5 points away.
On Saturday, however, Fox News said that despite Trump’s objections, Kelly will moderate the debate with Bret Baier and Chris Wallace.
