Trump escalates ‘wife battle’ with photo of Heidi Cruz

First the anti-Trump outfit Make America Awesome placed Facebook ads targeting Utah’s deeply religious Republican voters that featured a strategically covered nude photo of Melania Trump (picked up from a 2000 British GQ spread that the magazine recently republished) and the words: “Meet Melania Trump.

Cruz will campaign for her husband at a fundraiser in Parsippany on Tuesday night, followed by events in Wayne, Haddon Heights, and Freehold on Wednesday.

Cruz’s statements on Trump in recent days are a far cry from the months he spent praising his opponent while other candidates tried – and largely failed – to weaken the frontrunner.

Mr Trump tweeted he would “spill the beans” about Mr Cruz’s wife Heidi, after a fundraising committee in support of Mr Cruz published an ad featuring a naked image of Mr Trump’s wife Melania.

The same day Trump posted a picture of Melina and Heidi with a scathing caption that read, ‘No need to “spill the beans”.

“It’s not easy to tick me off. I don’t get angry often”, Cruz told reporters after touring a manufacturing plant in Dane, Wis. “But you mess with my wife, you mess with my kids, that’ll do it every time“.

“He’s directed these attacks at Megyn Kelly. He’s directed these attacks at Columba Bush, Jeb Bush’s wife”, he said.

The candidate isn’t helping himself with this freakish Twitter war with Cruz over their respective wives.

“He already had a gender gap prior to all this”, said Republican pollster David Winston. The ad was produced by Our Principles, a group founded by a former Mitt Romney campaign adviser who is trying to help the Republican Party appeal to more women. I mean … I wrote and said, ‘Be careful because otherwise I’ll have to start talking about your situation.’ Now, do I like doing that? If someone wants to comment on it, they can talk to my lawyer. “Heidi Cruz is a top surrogate for the campaign, and Heidi’s appearance is an indication the Cruz campaign will be investing resources into the New Jersey primary”.

She called him “incredibly principled” and “a person of great courage”, adding, “I’ve also learned through our many years together this is the most thoughtful person that I’ve ever met”. After the introduction, he gave her a long hug as the audience cheered.

On Thursday, the Texas senator said: “Donald, you’re a snivelling coward”. Cruz said Stone was so well known for his political dirty tricks that he was identified with a vulgar term describing “copulating with a rodent”.
