Trump on immigration ban: ‘Call it what you want’

February 04 05:40 2017

Makes as much sense as Trump’s Mexico wall.

No one figured out how to effectively respond to the insult-hurling billionaire as he upended the 2016 race.

Really Mr. President? Be more creative than that!

“We are through the looking glass here”. Critics of Trump’s Muslim ban say that it goes against one of the key parts of the U.S. constitution – that one religious group can not be “preferred over another”.

Anti-Trump protests have marked the early days of the new administration, which provoked millions around the world to join women’s marches the day after inauguration. They want to install a conservative justice on the Supreme Court.

Upon announcing the Muslim ban, protests at airports across the country emerged immediately. Putting his nationalist political strategist, Steve Bannon, on the National Security Council, while removing the national intelligence director and the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. John McCain, R-Ariz., and Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., who had issued a statement that day criticizing the “hasty” implementation of the policy. The fact that the President had persisted in the face of protests was “good, because it shows he’s not anxious about public opinion”.

“It’s not surprising he’s doing what he said he would do”.

The March 21 dinner at the National Building Museum is one of Congressional Republicans’ most important fundraising tools and has brought in large hauls before. Their base demands it.

The Trump White House on Tuesday criticised Senate Democrats for obstructing the new president’s nominees to lead government departments. Indeed, he has already promised to depoliticize the intelligence services, introducing both personnel and structural reforms, cutting down or completely eliminating a highly politicized Office of National Intelligence (all 16 US intelligence agencies report to its Director, who is a political appointee), cutting the central staff of other agencies and expanding their field offices, and in general, ending the political pressure on intelligence experts. Two hundred people showed up. “Every day is a circus with the Trump administration”.

Under these circumstances, Trump might seek to repeat the Nixon-Kissinger political experiment of the 1970s, when the USA started to play the “Chinese card” against Russian Federation, this time playing Russian Federation against China. “We have a president who thinks he can do what he wants without regards to the law”.

Trump got a D- for his “Muslim ban” announcement. Nothing but the truth should be spoken about him or any one else.

And his most recent order won him more fame than any other USA president when he signed the executive order to stop Muslim people from seven countries – Syria, Iran, Iraq, Somalia, Yemen, Libya and Sudan – from entering the US. One such shot (when Trump signed an executive order barring non-governmental organizations that receive federal funds from providing people with information about abortion) is now fully meme-able, if that’s your way of coping with the situation. They have the power to find out things about you and everyone around you.

“Donald Trump for the longest time has been using a insecure Android phone that by all reports is so easy to compromise, it would not meet the security requirements of a teenager”, says Nicholas Weaver, a computer scientist at the University of California at Berkeley. The difference between an executive order and a memorandum boil down to disparate audiences: The former directs the executive branch to take action in a particular way (unless it violates existing law); the latter, however, simply states a policy directive coming from the president’s office. He said Democrats must first and foremost be patriots standing up to fight for America’s democratic norms.

Far-reaching order The sacking of a high-ranking official revealed the discord within the United States government over the far-reaching order that bans citizens from Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen from entering the U.S. for 90 days and bars refugees from all countries for 120 days and from Syria indefinitely. Yet at the Republican retreat in Philadelphia on January 26th, dominated by talk of health-care reform, tax cuts and deregulation, the cheers for the president were full-throated.

“Trump practised “you’re fired” for years”, he tweeted, referring to the property tycoon’s famous TV catchphrase.

“We are all very excited to stand in solidarity with all Americans who think that bans on any form of immigration, especially those related to religious or ethnic concerns are unconstitutional, counterproductive, just not who we are as Americans”, Bell said. It took Barack Obama 936 days and George W. Bush 1,205.

“They are designed to create the impression amongst his supporters that he is acting to keep his campaign promises”, Savage said. So far the latter hasn’t happened.

“Hopefully people know that, so they can reach out to us”, Shakir said. The shock was that Trump won the election.
