Trump says he can’t release tax returns because of audits

February 26 20:51 2016

Trump told the audience and his Republican competitors at Thursday’s CNN Republican debate that his returns from the past two to three years are being audited.

Christ promised the meek would inherit the earth, but according to the gospel of Trump – they might also be audited by the IRS.

Senator Ted Cruz, who released some tax returns during his 2012 U.S. Senate race in Texas, said he’ll make more returns public as early as today.

Romney said he personally believes Trump is hiding something in his taxes.

Romney this week suggested that there could be a “bombshell” in Donald Trump’s tax returns, prompting a furious counter from Trump.

Then, he added: “When Mitt Romney asked me for my endorsement last time around, he was so awkward and goofy that we all should have known he could not win!” You get great information about “true” annual income, as most people would define the term.

‘Mitt Romney looked like a fool when he delayed and delayed and delayed and Harry Reid baited him so beautifully and Mitt Romney didn’t file his return until September 21 of 2012 about a month and a half before the election’.

So Romney – like the rest of the “Republican” establishment – is doing his best to torpedo Trump. “Every year they audit me, audit me, audit me”, complained Trump, whose net worth is reportedly $4 billion dollars but who claims the figure is more than double that. “I tell my people: ‘Why is it that every single year, I’m audited, whereas other people that are very rich … are never audited – and they don’t even know what I’m talking about when I talk about audits”.

Oh, and Trump hedged on releasing his own returns. I know I’m here for the ratings, but this is ridiculous’.

When asked about his previous statements during the 10th GOP debate – that his returns will be “out at some point, probably” – Trump instead lashed out at the man asking the questions.

However, when Trump appeared on Hewitt’s show earlier this week, he touted the size of his returns and floated that he’s “audited all the time” by the government.

Their conclusion: No law exists barring people from releasing their tax returns during an audit.

“Donald says he’s being audited”, Cruz began.
