Mike Pence laughed off his opponent’s accusation that he and Donald Trump are running an “insult-driven campaign” during Tuesday night’s vice presidential debate.
“[I am] proud to stand with him when he says that we need to suspend immigration from countries and territories that have been compromised by terrorism.”
Democratic rival Hillary Clinton was quick to respond to Trump’s apparent change of heart, tweeting, “Unfortunately for [Republican vice presidential nominee] Mike Pence and Donald Trump, Google exists [and we aren’t stupid]”. How undecided voters felt about the VP debate “Senator, you’ve whipped out that Mexican thing”, said Indiana Gov. Mike Pence during Tuesday night’s debate.
Immediately after each of Pence’s denials is a video clip of Trump contradicting him.
Ms. Conway said Mr. Trump was trying to answer questions as they were asked in the first debate, while Mrs. Clinton was “trying to get out those five or six zingers that she had rehearsed”.

Trump took credit for Pence’s performance, too, at an event in Henderson, Nevada, on Wednesday. While the veep debate won’t sway any votes, Luntz said Pence showed Trump the path to electoral success.
He was also widely criticised for suggesting Russian Federation “find” Clinton’s missing emails and leak the contents – something Trump maintained was a jokey comment rather than a serious suggestion.
“I was so happy that Mike did well”, Trump stated, dismissing media reports that he was disappointed.
It remains to be seen whether Trump comes into Sunday more prepared or looks more comfortable in the town hall format.
“They were saying “this is practice” for Sunday”.
Richmond Times Dispatch political reporter and columnist Jeff Schapiro agreed, but said Kaine still achieved his goal.
Trump also told the New York Post’s Page Six that he does not plan to bring up Bill Clinton’s sexual history during the debate, something he had threatened to do if Hillary Clinton continues to bring up the disparaging comments he has made about women over the years.
Trump has given campaign contributions to state attorneys general while they considered decisions affecting his business, the Wall Street Journal meanwhile reported on Wednesday.
The second presidential debate will take place on Sunday, Oct. 9, at 9pm ET (8pm CT, 7pm MT, 6pm PT). “He’s used to just kind of parachuting into a state, having a big speech and then leaving”, Williams said.
