Trump Taps Lt. Gen. McMaster as National Security Adviser

February 23 07:12 2017

Unlike Mr Flynn, who served as a campaign adviser a year ago, Lt-Gen McMaster has no links to Mr Trump and is not thought of as being as ideological as the man he will replace.

More recently, McMaster became known as a harsh critic of the so-called Revolution in Military Affairs, the theory that information-age technology would change the nature of warfare such that the US military would always dominate on the battlefield, because of its superiority over “industrial-age” armies such as that of Saddam Hussein in the 1991 Gulf War. General H.R. McMaster is an outstanding choice for national security adviser.

Trump has added Steve Bannon, his chief White House strategist, as a regular attendee of NSC meetings.

Russian Federation has used “hybrid warfare” in Crimea and eastern Ukraine that is part political, part disinformation, and part military, he said.

Speaking at his Mar-a-Lago residence in Palm Beach, Florida, Mr Trump said the pair working together would be “very, very special”.

Mr Kellogg, a retired three-star general who became a security consultant for software giant Oracle Corp, has been acting national security adviser for the past week. Deputy, Commanding General Futures/Director Army Capabilities Integration Center, U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command leads a panel discussing how the Army works under Force 2025 and Beyond to ensure the future force accentuates the relative strengths and mitigates weakness of each component, and remains prepared to accomplish missions and home and overseas from Oct 14, 2015.

With Flynn out of the picture, McMaster, who has bipartisan and military support, may head both security councils.

“I was disappointed to learn that the facts that have been conveyed to me by General Flynn were inaccurate”, Pence told reporters during a visit to North Atlantic Treaty Organisation headquarters in Brussels.

This happened to Gen. Colin Powell when he served as President Ronald Reagan’s national security adviser. Gen Kellog will now serve as the National Security Council chief of staff. Outnumbered, but not outdone, McMaster’s role in the battle led to comparisons to Gen. George Patton.

“The answer to that is no”, Priebus said.

Viktor Ozyorov, the chairman of the committee, expressed a more measured view, noting that it will be Trump who will have final say on actual policy.

White House officials over the weekend denied those reports, saying the adviser would be able to choose his or her own staff.

Priebus said the issue was never raised in the talks with Harward.

Trump called McMaster, a career Army officer and prominent expert on counterinsurgency warfare, a “man of tremendous talent and tremendous experience“.

“That book today is a must read for all military officers and as a outcome he brings to the office that ability to stand up to the president if he thinks that he is wrong”, he added.
