Trump wins Michigan, state officials say

Top election officials from the three states President-elect Donald Trump alleged without evidence had “serious voter fraud” ripped the claim as “unfounded” and “unsubstantiated” on Monday.

Stein won no states and wouldn’t directly or immediately benefit from a recount — nor would she likely be able to topple Trump.

Still, Clinton’s campaign was joining a recount led by Green Party candidate Jill Stein in up to three states.

Following Trump’s stunning victory in the presidential contest, talk of recounts has swirled, with the Republican president-elect adding a surprise twist to the discussion.

Clinton has 232 electoral college votes in her kitty as against 270 required to be declared as elected.

If a recount happens in MI, all 4,799,284 presidential race votes will be counted by hand at the county level under state supervision. Libertarian candidate Gary Johnson received 172,136 votes, while Green Party candidate Jill Stein hauled in 51,463 votes. The real estate mogul has claimed, without offering any evidence to back it up, that he would have won the popular vote if millions of illegal voters hadn’t cast ballots for Clinton, who is being pushed by professors and lawyers to challenge the results.

U.S. President-elect Donald Trump had recently taken to Twitter after the news started making rounds about Hillary’s possible participation in the recount process, calling her a hypocrite and using words like “scam” and “ridiculous” to describe the recount effort. As of Monday, she had raised $6.2 million to finance recounts, according to her campaign website.

Hillary Clinton easily won Virginia, the only southern state to back her on Election Day.

Stein, too, hasn’t provided evidence of voting irregularities. She has until Wednesday to file her request.

He concluded his post saying that his resignation now will allow the state to fill his vacancy with someone who will vote for Trump.

Though it’s possible a recount request, objections and the issuance of a decision could happen more quickly than the maximum times allowed by law, the time frames set out in MI statute could push the start of any recount back to around December 15, only four days before the Electoral College is set to meet.

A statement on the Wisconsin Elections Commission’s website said the recount was scheduled to begin on Thursday and had to be completed by December 13.

The last statewide recount in Wisconsin came in 2011, in a state Supreme Court race.

Then, it’ll be up to elections officials in each of the state’s 72 counties to work nights and weekends to recount their votes. They say the changes would give voters more confidence in the state’s election systems. He argued that records stored in electronic voting equipment could have been manipulated in an attack.

Fact-checking organizations including Politifact and Snopes have debunked a widely circulating conspiracy theory stating that millions of undocumented immigrants voted in the presidential election.

Republican President-elect Donald Trump edged Democrat Hillary Clinton by about 71,000 votes, or about 1 percent, in Pennsylvania. The corrections were made during the regular post-election canvass of the election-night vote.
