Twitter disruption silences swaths of US, Europe for hours

The company tweeted from its support account, simply acknowledging the problem and that it was working toward a solution. Unfortunately, problems were still popping up sporadically for users.

Some users are now experiencing problems accessing Twitter.

Twitter chief executive Jack Dorsey did not confirm the plan, but said the company WAs “not going to be shy about building more utility and power into Twitter“. Some services were still unavailable making it so some users still couldn’t access Twitter. While other social media sites like Snapchat have a rapidly growing community, Twitter’s user count has been stagnant for years.

“Any downtime for a technology brand is negative, and as quick as we complain we quickly forget and go back to our daily habits”, said social media expert Warren Knight. As of 6 a.m., Twitter remained down.

Police forces across Canada tweet out alerts about active investigations, traffic accidents and other hazards, and monitor the site for leads.

It makes the issue one of the longest-lasting in the micro-blogging site’s nearly 10-year history.

A spokesperson for twitter officially accepted that the site was down and they were looking forward to solve the issues as soon as possible.

Twitter was down internationally on Tuesday morning, with TechCrunch reporting that users in the UK, Switzerland, and Bangkok, as well as parts of the United States, were unable to use the platform.
