The site has not revealed what’s behind the outage and an update said: “Some users are now experiencing problems accessing Twitter”.
The issue affected users across the globe, with subscribers in the United Kingdom and India reporting problems.
In case you didn’t notice, Twitter was down for many users.
According to a post on Twitter’s official blog for status updates, the company was aware of problems affecting its network from around 4 a.m. Eastern time.
By 11:15 a.m. today, Twitter’s developer site for tracking performance and availability reported that service APIs were all performing normally.
“It’s going to put a big question mark over Twitter in terms of being more reliable as a communication tool”. Ironically, Twitter reported the outage via a tweet.
“So #twitterdown was trending when Twitter was down?!” one user tweeted. On Tuesday, Twitter went offline for many users, displaying an error page for many who visited the site.
“(People) know that we post things about road closures, traffic delays, collisions and today it was, for the most part, information that couldn’t be obtained”. Since its web portal doors opened, Twitter has experienced regular outages with numerous users being shown the “over capacity” error message. Some users couldn’t access it on mobile and the web for about 10 minutes Monday, and the service was disrupted Friday for about 20 minutes.
The study on the time that the problems were first faced and when they were fixed were both studied by the outage-monitoring service Down Detector. Dorsey has also tried to broaden Twitter’s appeal, a problem the company has struggled with for years, much to the consternation of its investors.
