The life of Holly Holm changed dramatically on November 14th in Melbourne, Australia when her left-foot collided with the head and neck of Ronda Rousey.
“Holly Holm will fight before she fights Ronda”, White said. White has announced no opponent or date, but one must imagine that former Strikeforce champion and current UFC contender Miesha Tate would be the pick for Holm’s first title defense.
Rousey agreeing to host “Saturday Night Live 2016” is said to be a good move for the UFC fighter, according to Forbes.
Holly Holm, women’s bantamweight champion, has reportedly signed a multi-year contract extension with UFC. You can find his podcast, The Fight Club Chicago, and subscribe on iTunes, Soundcloud, Stitcher and You Tube. White made the announcement on Fox Sports 1’s UFC Tonight.
Holm, who was the underdog, rocked the MMA world when she knocked out Rousey in the second round.
With Rousey scheduled to film a pair of movies in the coming months, White and the UFC brass targeted the rematch for July’s UFC 200 mega-event.
Though she is best known for her skills as a mixed martial artist, Rousey’s acting resume is nothing to sneeze at.
Holm vs. Rousey II is expected to challenge UFC pay-per-view and live gate records, so there’s a lot of financial risk having Holm fight anybody not named Rousey next. She’s dedicated the last three years to working hard, fighting, promoting and taking the UFC to the next level. She has kept mostly quiet since the upset loss to Holm, although she did tell ESPN in an exclusive interview that the rematch “is what I want”.
Unfortunately, White gave few details: no word on when the fight will take place, or whom Holm will fight.
