United Airlines stops girls wearing leggings from boarding a plane

Gate agents make that determination on a case-by-case basis, but a fare-paying passenger can board a United flight in stretchy trousers, he said.

The incident was witnessed by activist and founder of Moms Demand Action for Gun Reforms, Shannon Watts, while waiting to board the flight from Denver to Minneapolis yesterday morning. The employee allegedly wouldn’t let them board the aircraft heading from Denver to Minneapolis until they either changed their clothes, or “put dresses on over leggings”. “It singles out women for their clothing and sexualises little girls”.

The airline seemed to hit a cog in the wheel when they could not explain why it was inappropriate for a 10-year-old to dress in leggings.

Taking to Twitter, Chrissy wrote: ‘I have flown united before with literally no trousers on. Just a top as a dress.

In another tweet made in response to a question from a social media user, the airline said: “Casual attire for ticketed passengers is fine”.

United Airlines spokesman Jonathan Guerin said pass travellers are “representing” the company and are not allowed to wear Lycra and spandex leggings, tattered or ripped jeans, midriff shirts, flip-flops or any article of clothing that shows their undergarments. Pass riders are defined as employees or people related to United employees.

“When traveling as a United pass traveler, we always remind our family and friends there are rules we all need to follow”.

The airline added, “to our regular customers, your leggings are welcome“.

That only drew attention to what many saw as a double standard.

While others mocked United.

“I fly a LOT”, she wrote.

Actress Patricia Arquette was especially incensed. Well, step aside other airlines, and make (air) way for United Airlines and their rule about banning young girls wearing leggings.

Former Star Trek icon Shatner said: “I’m going to start wearing leggings!”

“I’m pretty sure yoga trousers are a thing”, Watts said. The woman had a dress in her carry-on bag that the child was able to pull on over her trousers, and the family boarded the flight.
